Steve Bannon calls Musk “truly evil”

Steve Bannon, a Trump pal, pardoned fraudster, and podcaster (read his bio here), has something in common with the liberals he battles with daily.

Bannon, who looks like a homeless camper (photo, left), thinks Elon Musk is “truly evil” (read story here). These days few liberals would disagree with that characterization of Trump’s new best friend, who is also the world’s richest person.

What’s going on? Partly, there’s a deep division within conservative circles over the H-1B visa program (see story here). Silicon Valley billionaires like Musk depend heavily on foreign tech workers, because America lacks enough homegrown talent in software engineering and sciences. MAGA adherents don’t like immigrants, period.

“This thing of the H-1B visas, it’s about the entire immigration system is gamed by the tech overlords, they use it to their advantage, the people are furious,” Bannon said, referring to Trump’s MAGA followers as “the people.” (I guess the rest of us are not?)

Bannon didn’t stop here. “He should go back to South Africa,” he said. “Why do we have South Africans, the most racist people on Earth, white South Africans, we have them making any comments at all on what goes on in the United States?”

He piled on, saying Musk has a maturity of a “little boy” and is only interested in growing his wealth (which, at last count, stood at $432 billion).

Of course, this doesn’t mean liberals will embrace Bannon or make common cause with him. In their book both are bad guys, and that isn’t about to change.

Rather, the Bannon-Musk dust up reflects internal divisions within the conservative movement. Republicans, who will control all three branches of America’s government (but just barely), disagree among themselves over many issues. What looks like monolithic GOP power may turn into a messy family fight while Democrats and liberals cheer from the sidelines. 🍿🍿🍿
