If you voted for Trump thinking he’ll do more for the little people than Democrats have, you’re in for a rude awakening. You’ve been scammed.
He’s filling his cabinet and administration with billionaires. He’s “dining with industry lobbyists and promising regulatory exemptions to big companies.” The GOP aims to fund tax cuts for rich people by cutting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and food stamps. Health care will be a major target for spending cuts.
Consumer protection will be sharply curtailed or ended (read story here). The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) will be defanged (read story here), and FTC chair Lina Khan, a consumer champion, will be replaced with a business-friendly surrogate (read story here).
Meanwhile, Trump is already abandoning his promise to bring down grocery prices (read story here), and his tariffs will raise consumer prices on a broad array of goods including cars, appliances, electronics, toys, shoes, and clothing (see stories here and here).
Trump voters, you’ve been snookered. But the billionaires will do just fine.
