Thousands of other candidates are on ballots across America. Those who care about politics will be watching who controls the next Congress: Whether Democrats recapture the House, and what happens in the Senate.
Nationally, the top Senate races are in Montana and Ohio, where Democrats could lose seats crucial to their Senate majority. But viscerally, Democrats everywhere will be watching what happens to Ted Cruz in Texas and Kari Lake in Arizona, both of them repulsive figures.
Another race to watch is what happens to Michelle Morrow, an even more repulsive extremist who called for President Obama to be shot by a firing squad (see story here), who’s running for North Carolina superintendent of public instruction. Will that state’s voters put someone like her in charge of their public schools?
In Washington state, there are at least four races to watch. (1) Who will be Washington’s next attorney general? (2) Will Rep. Dan Newhouse be re-elected? (3) Can Democrat Dave Upthegrove, who survived the primary by just 49 votes, fend off former GOP Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler in the race for state lands commissioner? And (4) how decisively will voters repudiate nutty Oath Keeper Carrie R. Kennedy (see my post here) in her bid for a seat in the legislature?
