Every election is a battle for the soul of America.
Trump has painted a dystopian picture of our nation, portraying it as a hellscape of crime and a nation of losers. That may resonate with some folks, but the man who defeated Trump in the 2020 election isn’t buying any of it, nor hopping on the “Trump Train.”
“More people are working today in America than any time since Trump left office, that’s just a fact,” President Biden said at Philadelphia campaign event on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
“401Ks are strong, violent crime is down, murder is down and fewer people are crossing the border, and Trump calls that a hellscape? He talks about America being a failed nation, where the hell’s he from? It makes me angry,” Biden said. “I say America’s winning, we’re the most powerful nation in the world, the most respected nation in the word. Trump says we’re losers, but the only loser I know is Donald Trump.”
Biden called Trump “dishonest,” and alluded to his conviction of 34 felonies related to falsifying business records, then spat out, “I think he’s running to stay out of jail.” Read story here.
The media have coddled Trump far too much. Biden should get angry. Trump is a lawless renegade who cheated on all his wives, stiffs his creditors, tried to overthrow the 2020 election, lies persistently, demonizes racial groups and political opponents, disrespects veterans, and threatens anyone who opposes him. He was impeached twice for violating his oath of office. He incites and arouses the darkest impulses of his followers.
It’s stunning that the Republican Party renominated him, and he might win the 2024 election. Either half of America’s voters are poorly informed, or we aren’t as good a country as we like to think we are.
