Contrary to J. D. Vance’s claims lies, no pets in Springfield, Ohio have killed been killed by Haitian immigrants. Can’t say the same for his fellow Republicans:
- South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, by her own admission, blasted her pup to bits in a gravel pit with a shotgun.
- Project 2025 sponsor Kevin Roberts, according to a former university colleague, killed a neighbor’s dog with a shovel because its barking annoyed him.
- Ex-Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran said he did “all kinds of indecent things to animals,” without elaborating, and called it “fun.”
- Ex-South Carolina GOP chair Todd Kincannon, according to police records, killed his mother’s dog “because God told him to,” and called it a “blood sacrifice.”
- Illinois Rep. Mike Bost, according to court records, shot a neighbor’s dog in a pen in retaliation for biting his daughter when she chased it. Bost let his own dog roam free in the neighborhood.
- The late Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe hosted “pigeon shoots” in which “hundreds of doves raised in captivity were tossed in the air and shot” and then left to die in a field.
