Sen. Bill Cassidy is outraged that the White House Gift Shop plans to sell a commemorative coin marking Trump’s second indictment (see story here; and details, pricing, and ordering info here).
It’s not surprising that Cassidy, a Republican, isn’t a big fan of a trinket mocking his party’s titular leader. I’d probably agree it would be unseemly for the White House or Biden re-election campaign to peddle such an item, were they to do such a thing. It violates civility; mockery isn’t nice.
A detail, though, that Sen. Kennedy failed to look up before going off half-cocked: “The White House Gift Shop is a private company and not affiliated with The White House or the federal government.” (See tweet here.)
Meaning they’re private souvenir sellers, just like the people selling “F*** Biden” t-shirts. By the way, in that video, is that dandruff on Cassidy’s suit jacket, or is it snowing in Washington D.C. in mid-June?
