Washington’s state medical commission has suspended the license of a controversial physician assistant who has used social media to promote opposition to masks and vaccines, and unapproved treatments for Covid-19, the Vancouver Columbian reported on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
The suspension, which took effect immediately, doesn’t appear to be in response to his views, which are popular in conservative political circles but go against the recommendations of the medical profession.
Rather, he was investigated for professional actions such as “prescribing medications without seeing patients, interfering with the care of hospitalized COVID-19 patients, and engaging in a hostile and threatening public campaign against hospitals and doctors,” the newspaper said.
He had previously been cited by California for professional conduct that included “providing medical care without a supervising physician’s authorization, writing drug orders for controlled substances without examining patients and failing to document patients’ medical records,” the newspaper said.
