Pete Hegseth (photo, left; bio here) said on “Fox & Friends,” a Fox News talk show, that he hadn’t washed his hands in 10 years because, “Germs are not a real thing. I can’t see them, therefore, they are not real.”
Snopes, a debunking website, confirmed the statement and who said it here.
Challenged about it, Hegseth’s response was more or less, whatsamatter, can’t you liberal media guys take a joke? This was about a year before the pandemic began.
Other Hegseth “jokes” include saying he drinks out of hosepipes and rides a bike without a helmet. Hegseth probably wasn’t joking, though, when he claimed Democrats made up the Omicron variant in order to win the 2022 midterms (first link above).
