College sensation and WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark won’t be invited to play for Team USA at the Paris Olympics this summer, CNN reported on Saturday, June 8, 2024 (read story here).
A sports analyst citing unnamed sources told USA Today the team is concerned how Clark’s fans would react to her spending the Games on the bench while more experienced players, including previous Olympic Gold medalists, get the playing time.
“The USA women’s national team, consistently loaded with a surplus of talent, has won gold at seven straight Olympic Games dating back to 1996,” CNN said. Americans already dominate women’s basketball, and they don’t need her right now.
Her time will come. But when you’re a new kid on the block, you wait your turn. Clark surely learned that during her college career.
