Yesterday, Jeann Lugo (photo, left) was a Providence, Rhode Island, police officer and GOP candidate for state senate. Today, he’s no longer a candidate, is on administrative leave, and probably will lose his police job. He’ll likely be sued for personal injury, and may go to jail, too. He slapped his Democratic opponent, Jennifer Rourke (photo, right, with husband), in the face at a protest against the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade. Read story here.
In other protest violence, a truck driver rammed peaceful pro-choice demonstrators in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sending one to a hospital. Read that story here.
