GOP senators offer ACA replacement plan that would let states keep Obamacare
Four Republican senators have proposed legislation that would allow states to “keep former President Obama’s health care overhaul or opt for a new program providing trimmed-down coverage.” The bill also would allow states to reject federal subsidies.
“The plan offered by the four senators retreats from years of GOP cries to repeal Obama’s law and replace it with an undefined Republican alternative. It comes as GOP lawmakers face pressure from President Trump to quickly void and replace the health law and as Republicans continue hunting for a proposal that would unite them.”
Yeah, uh-huh. When Obama was still president, the GOP’s mantra was “repeal,” which the GOP-controlled House voted over 50 times to do, to no avail. Then, after they won last fall’s election and found themselves holding the power to actually repeal Obamacare, their song and dance became “repeal and replace.” Almost immediately, a lot of people suspected they never had a replacement plan and still don’t. So they had to come up with something quickly. So now, their idea is to replace Obamacare with … (drum roll) …
Obamacare.
