Walkinshaw Pulls Ahead of McDermott in Primary Election
Ballots Are still being counted but the dramatic shift of nearly 1000 votes implies that late voters must have been very pro Brady. The Ave predicts he will in the number two slot against Jayapal.
I endorsed Brady and am very excited about the oncoming debates. While their TV ads look like mere mirror images .. two “people of color,” teo liberals could not be more unalike.
Brady is a decade younger, has a lot greater breadth of experiences outside government , is hugely knowledgeable about Seattle, and sees this job as a goals for his life’s work. His cmapaign has broad support from the Seattle community .. ranging form gay activists to urbanists worried about our citie’s future.
Jayapal has also done a lot, first on Wall Street and then as a community activist for the immigrant communities in her district .. a district outside of the major population of Seattle. That is all good but unlike Brady, she sees this as a stepping sotne to a national role … much like her colleague Kshama Sawant.
Like Sawant, Jayapal has garnered 100’s of thousands of dollar of support from people outside our state and much of this is in PACs that do nto report ot our elections commission.
When asked to answer simple questions about this CD, .. about the port, the University, the waterfront, or our issues witht he flight of African Americans out of Seattle, Jayapal refused to answer. This may reflect the discipline of her campaign of a genuine lack of knowledg of issure facing the voter in this CD.
