“This morning, I signed a proclamation declaring a civil emergency in response to the growing homeless crisis in our city.”

I don’t get it.

City spends $40 million per year

$40 million per year /3800 homeless  = $10,526 per year.

Rent them apartments. Not being facetious.

SMS thumb Cezanne SMS: InterEsting .. and , a two bedroom apt in settle is likely to cost at LEAST $1500.  so

$34,200,000 should pay for rent.  I suspect the difference is the other costs, e.g. at $10 day for food, 3800 folks need about $14 million a year.  That comes to  $48 million, not including other costs such as healthcare, transportation, and clothing.

BUT, administering this would have to include the costs of oversight .. eg assuring that the approximate $13,000 per homeless person went to people who qualified.  Les say that younuse ten socialo workers ot fo do that job.  That adds another $600,000.

So with no other special services, 3800 homeless costs almost $49 million or $13,000 per person. Interestingly, if each of these people had a minimum wage job, they would earn $31,200.
