Illinois congressman Aaron Schock, a Republican accused of paying for his lavish lifestyle with campaign donations and taxpayer funds, will resign from Congress this month, CNN reported today.
Schock is the second Republican to resign from Congress since last fall’s elections. In December, Rep. Michael Grimm, from New York, gave up his seat after pleading guilty to federal tax evasion.
In a statement this afternoon, a Democratic spokesman compared House Speaker John Boehner’s GOP caucus to “Animal House.” But I don’t think that’s Boehner’s fault. He didn’t elect those people. He’s merely their leader, to the extent they have a leader, and are capable of being led.
