Only problem is, it’s for negligence, not a deliberate killing. NYPD Officer Peter Liang accidentally shot Akai Gurley, 28, in the dark hallway of a Brooklyn housing project last November. Apparently he tried to open a door with his gun hand and it went off. The charges against Liang will be detailed tomorrow, but presumably are negligent homicide or manslaughter. It’s ironic that after a slew of cop killings, when a cop finally gets indicted, it’s for an accidental death. You gotta wonder if Liang would’ve gotten off if he’d shot Gurley on purpose.
