This campaign is focused on free press in foreign countries.
As an avid (and unusual) reader of the world press, however, I am less than sanguine about our own media. The sad fact is that a small number of media giants control almost all of our media. We get very little news of critical events outside the US … whether that is this weekend’s election favoring neo fascism in France or the conflicts in China of people seeking ethnic freedom.
The problem here is not outright censorship by the government but the self interest of corporations. CNN is a sad example. Their obsessive coverage of Malaysian Air 370 was not driven by the story but by their ability to draw viewers to what might be called news porn. Frankly, the only real source of broadcast news left in the US is Al Jazeera.
“what might be called news porn” says the man who routinely Photoshops pictures of massacre victims and labels as prostitutes random pictures of children he finds on the web. And you want to be entrusted as a historian of the Shoah?

As Bill obviously knows there are several tools that allow this ..e.g. http://www.anonymailer.net/ and http://www.sendanonymousemail.net/. He may not be aware that sending a fake email or using a false email to log on to a website can be a felony under state and federal laws covering hacking and fraud.
Of course, if there really is a vertrekken he or she is free to post here. I would be very curious about what
Bill“vertrekken” thinks is pornographic here.
