A black man walking his autistic grandson to school was violently assaulted by police in Minden, Louisiana, on Thursday, April 15, 2021, according to a Shreveport TV station (read story here and here). A bystander recorded the incident (click on links to see the video).
His family claims Robby Bailey, 53, was having an epileptic seizure, but the police chief disputes that. Bailey had lain down in bushes, which caused someone to call for help. When police arrived, he appeared disoriented, and struggled with the cops. Two of the white officers then punched and kicked him.
The TV station reported that the officer who kicked Bailey under his arm “felt like his actions worked because [Bailey] stopped fighting and officers were then able to put him in handcuffs.”
