“President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, has told the FBI and congressional officials investigating the Trump campaign’s potential ties to Russia that he is willing to be interviewed in exchange for immunity from prosecution,” Reuters reported Thursday afternoon, citing the Wall Street Journal as its source. Read story here.
What does that mean? Well, Flynn himself said last fall when Hillary Clinton’s staffers requested immunity during the FBI investigation of her emails (which led to no charges), “When you are given immunity, that means you have probably committed a crime.”
Remember Trump picked this guy for national security adviser, for God’s sake, until he was forced out for lying about his Russian contacts. Most people who pass sensitive information to our adversaries — that’s called “spying” — end up in Florence (aka “Supermax”) like this guy.
In other words, prosecutors take spying very seriously, so it’ll be interesting to see if they’re willing to trade immunity for information in this case. (Most spies don’t get immunity for cooperating with the FBI, merely being spared from the death penalty, which doesn’t amount to much because being incarcerated in Florence is a living death. You can read what it’s like here.)
I wonder how many deaths Flynn is responsible for? Putin, the ex-KGB agent, kills opponents and turncoats, you know.
