To govern means leading a political party. Bernie has now failed that test.
Yesterday, the morning after taking the podium at the Democratic National Convention to endorse Hillary Clinton, Bernie told reporters that he will revert to being an independent when he returns to the Senate.
When asked if he was actually a Democrat during the campaign, Sanders said: “No, I am an independent who is going to be working with the—” and then cut himself off. Later, at a Democratic town hall from earlier this year, he changed it up, responding to the same question: “Of course I am a Democrat and running for the Democratic nomination.”
What happens to the effort to reform the Dem Party when the leader of that effort claims he is not a Democrat?
