The Amtrak train that crashed Tuesday night, killing 8 passengers and injuring more than 200 others, has engine windshield damage consistent with being struck by either a bullet or rock, the National Transportation Safety Board said Friday. At least one other train also reported being hit by a bullet or rock, and there are reports that a third train also was hit. The FBI is now involved in the crash investigation.
This photo from CBS News shows a bullet hole in the engine’s windshield.
Update (3/4/22): A jury acquitted the Amtrak engineer of criminal charges stemming from the crash (see story here).
