Calgary Sun: OTTAWA – Three University of Ottawa resident doctors have filed complaints with the Ontario human rights tribunal.
“The right to be free of discrimination is a basic human right, and we stand for that right,” said Al-Ghaithy at a press conference Wednesday to announce the complaint.
The trio didn’t share many details of their allegations, though among the people named in the complaint are noted heart surgeon Dr. Wilbert Keon and chief of cardiac surgery Dr. Thierry Masana. Masana “threatened and intimidated” Al-Saigh in front of colleagues, according to Aba-Alkhail.
The group also produced what they say are leaked e-mails between Dr. Richard Moulton, chair of the neurosurgery program, and Dr. Eve Tsai, assistant professor of neurosurgery, which apparently showed Moulton recommending Al-Ghaithy be fired in order to discourage other human rights complaints.
“The university will be speaking out at the hearing,” spokeswoman Andree Dumoulin said, though she declined to comment on specifics.
