The now-infamous false rumor, amplified by Trump and J. D. Vance, that Haitian immigrant workers in Springfield, Ohio, were stealing and eating people’s pets originated from a police report about a missing cat.
Anna Kilgore (photo below), the Springfield woman who reported the missing cat, found “Sassy” hiding in her basement a few days later (see story here).
Cats do that, as any cat owner knows. At least Kilgore was big enough to apologize “for the mix-up.” Now the question is whether Trump and Vance are men enough to admit being wrong?
So far, no.
