Black busker attacked by neoNazis awarded $2.75 million

Charles Murrell, a black classically-trained saxophonist, headed for a Boston library on July 2, 2022, to play his sax on the sidewalk.

He never got there. Dozens of toughs from Patriot Front, a neo-Nazi hate group (details here), were outside the library. When they saw Murrell, they attacked him, slamming him into a concrete post (photo below), and causing injuries. Boston cops stood by and did nothing to stop them.

Murrell sued Patriot Front and its founder-leader, Thomas Rousseau (photo, left; bio here), a 26-year-old Texan. They didn’t respond to the lawsuit; and on Monday, January 13, 2025, a federal judge awarded Murrell a default judgment of $2,755,000, including personal injury, lost wages, and punitive damages (read story here, and see judgment here).

The case is reminiscent of a lawsuit that bankrupted Aryan Nations and its founder, the late Richard Butler, which involved aa neo-Nazi hate group’s assault against two Native American women passing by the group’s former Hayden Lake, Idaho, compound which is now a public park (details here).

Both Joe Rogan, a popular rightwing podcaster, and Elon Musk have falsely claimed the Patriot Front group is an FBI or “Antifa” false flag operation (link above). Which raises this question: How should we deal with people like them? The answer is simple: Don’t believe them, and stop listening to them.
