Even straight kids can be victims of anti-trans hate

No kid is safe from anti-LGBQT hate, not even straight kids.

This incident happened in Canada, but it’s going to happen here too, wait and see.

A 9-year-old fourth grade girl was competing in an elementary school track meet at Kelowna, British Columbia, when a grandfather began yelling at her.

But first, the girl was “born female, is cisgender, uses “she/her” pronouns,” i.e., is what everybody calls “straight.” But she has a pixie haircut, so the jackass in the bleachers assumed she was a boy, or trans, decided it was unfair for her to compete against girls. Meanwhile, his wife began calling another girl with short hair “a genital mutilator, a groomer, and a pedophile.” (See story here.)

These are little kids, for God’s sake! I don’t have kids in school anymore, but I hear stories. Things have changed. Schools have become Ground Zero in the “culture wars,” and are places of rancor now.

Of course, it’s not just about “boys competing against girls.” It’s part of a broader problem in kids’ sports. For example, some Little League parents believe if their kid is called out on strikes, the umpire has ruined his chances of being drafted into the majors and earning millions. So there’s rampant umpire abuse. Not surprisingly, there’s a Little League umpire shortage (see story here), because who’s going to put up with that for $50 a game?

The Kelowna school is taking action to ban Grandpa from entering school property and from “all school-related events.” Presumably that will include his grandchild’s graduation. Too bad, but he asked for it. They should kick Grandma out, too. Also, the police have opened a hate-crime investigation (see story here), so this couple may get hauled into court.

Anyone who thinks anti-LGBQT haters are protecting children is wrong. They’re harming children and poisoning communities. They’re bullies, not heroes. Let’s make that perfectly clear to them.
