What leftwing violence looks like

“Jane Doe” didn’t murder George Floyd, Derek Chauvin did.

She wasn’t a Minneapolis cop, and didn’t testify as a defense expert in Chauvin’s trial, although her ex-husband, Barry Brodd, did.

She got their California house in the divorce. In April 2021, when that house was vandalized with pig’s blood (see story here), Brodd no longer owned it and wasn’t living there. The vandals apparently thought he did when they splashed it with pig’s blood “from end to end” and left a severed pig’s head on the doorstep (see photo below). They were caught and are going on trial (see story here).

Related story: Envelopes containing “suspicious” powder were mailed to Republican legislators in Kansas; no Democrats received the letters (see story here).

While most of the politically-motivated violence in the U.S. today comes from the far right, not all of it does; and it’s just as criminal, inexcusable, and disturbing when it comes from the left. Jane Doe’s only “offense” was having once been married to a retired cop who testified he believe Chauvin used reasonable force. That got her attacked in her own home.

Responsible citizens won’t make a distinction between political motivations. They’ll condemn all political violence, in all its forms, whether it’s assaulting police officers guarding Congress, or throwing pig’s blood on someone’s home.

They’ll also support police reforms so there are no more George Floyds, but will recognize there are right ways and wrong ways of doing that.
