I once read about a man who attends circuses to watch the lion tamer acts. He said he hopes the lions don’t eat the trainer, but if they do, he wants to be there.
Our elections are now that kind of circus. “On Monday, The New Republic reported that foreign tourists are coming to the United States to simply watch people vote, in the hope of witnessing chaos should the democratic process in the country break down,” Raw Story said here on November 7, 2022.
“Folks, US ‘democracy’ has become such a clown show that English and Australian tourists are booking specialized election experience tours” to watch, a Philadelphia activist tweeted here. I presume she meant to say “lion act.”
According to Raw Story, the company sponsoring the tours charges $4,500. This is cheaper than Nepal trekking tours, and free of altitude sickness, although U.S. election tourists may encounter other objective hazards.
