Don’t lick the toads

I remember when hippies tried to get high by smoking banana peels. (Could they? Find out here.)

Creative attempts to get high, like computer software, have evolved and grown more sophisticated since then.

Enter the Sonoran Desert Toad. The “National Park Service … warned visitors on Facebook last week against licking the toads,” NBC News reported (here).

Sounds like toad licking is the 21st century version of smoking banana peels. “People have exploited the toad’s toxin as psychedelic, smoking it to experience euphoria and hallucinations,” NBC News said.

The toad’s skin toxin is toxic, and like sniffing glue can cause severe harm. That doesn’t stop some people from trying it anyway.
