David Frick, 29, of Gainesville, Florida, likes to assault people, especially defenseless women.
Florida court records show unspecified criminal charges filed against him on December 16, 2021 (here), and January 7, 2022 (here).
A Florida TV station reported in March 2022 (here) he was arrested in December for stealing laptops from the University of Florida, and fought guards while being escorted to the jail infirmary, then “used two hands to push a nurse when she had her back turned.”
That story noted the police report described him as “homeless.”
He must’ve got out of jail at some point, because he was arrested again on Sunday, September 18, 2022, this time for attacking a CVS Pharmacy employee in Gainesville. The news story (here) says he punched her in the face, breaking her nose; then knocked her down, and “got on top of her and punched her more.” Then he punched a customer who tried to intervene in the face, too.
There was no rhyme or reason behind it. Both victims said they didn’t know him, and had never seen him before. That story says his sentence for the assault on the nurse included “receiving treatment for mental health illness.”
Raw Story, a website that runs political news stories, picked up the story (here) because Frick yelled “F— Joe Biden!” while assaulting the CVS employee. I don’t think this is a political story, though, and Frick isn’t someone I’d call a Trump supporter or “Trumper,” nor does this look like a political hate crime to me.
I’m guessing he was just being verbally as well as physically belligerent. Even though Gainesville is a university town, it doesn’t appear he was a student, and it’s probably fair to say he’s not a liberal intellectual. But he doesn’t strike me as someone who goes to Trump rallies. He impresses me as someone who goes to police stations. A lot.
I don’t think he’s a crazy Trumper; I think he’s a crazy sociopath. Lock him up.
