If it quacks like a duck …

Robert Keith Packer, shown here outside the Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, pled guilty in January 2022 to a misdemeanor charge of “unlawful parading and picketing.”

Prosecutors gave him a break on the charges, given that he invaded the building and other photos show him inside. But they want the judge to give him 75 days in jail.

Packer’s Nazi signaling wasn’t limited to his sweatshirt. When the FBI searched his Virginia home, they found pictures of Hitler, swastika artwork, and white supremacy materials, Raw Story says (here).

His doting sister, bless her heart, wants him spared from jail. She claims he’s a kind and misunderstood person “with a HUGE heart and gentle soul.” (Yeah, well, history tells us Hitler had a big heart and soft spot for dogs and Aryan children. I say he was a monster anyway.)

She says “the media has portrayed and described a person who he is NOT and NEVER has been,” and claims his life has become “a major struggle” and he’s “living in fear” because the news media slandered him and made him out to be “some monster.” (Well, yeah, posing as a Nazi and Hitler-worshipper will make anyone look like a monster; but I’d argue he “slandered” himself.)

She continued, “It’s so easy to judge a book by it’s [sic] cover, without knowing the details of what is truly inside …. All over a sweatshirt — yes a sweatshirt,” ignoring the other Nazi paraphernalia the FBI found in his living quarters.

Her filial loyalty is touching. But hey, sis, your brother probably is a Nazi and Hitler-worshipper. I hate to be the one who must break this news to you, but it’s now time for you to come down to earth and embrace the odds-on probabilities.

You know how the saying goes: If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and waddles like a duck, it’s probably a duck.

Related story: Packer’s lawyer says he’s “offended” that people think he’s a Nazi, and “gets mad” when they call him a white supremacist (read story here). Really? Then don’t act like one.
