Rightwing firebrand Lara Logan (profile here, photo below) apparently has been pushed off Fox News after her infamous November 2021 remark comparing Dr. Fauci to Nazi doctor Joseph Mengele, who (among his other crimes) conducted cruel medical experiments on Jewish children (photo, right).
This week, Logan whined, “I was definitely pushed out. I mean, there is no doubt about that. They don’t want independent thinkers. They don’t want people who follow the facts regardless of the politics.” (See story here.)
What facts is she talking about? Let’s be clear about two things. One, Dr. Fauci didn’t torture and murder Jews (including children); he’s a medical expert with an important federal job who’s trying to save lives, and comparing him to a Nazi monster isn’t “following the facts,” it’s a vicious and libelous smear with potential to incite attempts on Dr. Fauci’s life.
Two, Logan isn’t an “independent thinker,” she’s a vile propagandist posing as a journalist who isn’t worth reading or listening to.
Disassociating from her doesn’t make Fox News virtuous. They still give the execrable Tucker Carlson, an admitted liar, a soapbox for his pro-Russia rants. They’re still a rightwing propaganda factory, not a legitimate news operation.
All this shows is their legal department has decided that Logan is too great a liability risk. If I were on a jury, I’d have no problem returning a finding of actual malice against her and any network hosting her. I assume the Fox execs who showed her the door were thinking along those same lines.
