Herschel “Woody” Williams, 97, an Iwo Jima hero (bio here), is the last living Medal of Honor recipient from World War 2. Read here what he just did.

Twenty-two Marines at Iwo Jima were awarded the Medal of Honor, over a quarter of MOHs awarded to Marines in the entire war.
