Two-faced Nikki Haley

Nikki Haley wants to be president. Specifically, she wants to be the Republican nominee for president in 2024, or 2028, or whenever.

Haley wants to be president so badly she sucked up to Trump for 4 years. Then, after Trump was rejected by the larger electorate, and she saw a possible opening for herself, she tried to shed her Trumper image thusly:

“‘We need to acknowledge he let us down. He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again,’ Haley told Politico’s Tim Alberta in February. She added of Trump: ‘He’s not going to run for federal office again. … I don’t think he’s going to be in the picture. I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far.'”

Then a funny thing happened. The Republican voter base didn’t let go of Trump. The GOP is still his party. So now Haley is sucking up to him again.

If Nikki Haley doesn’t know what she stands for — if she can’t even decide whether she’s a Trumper — how can you know what she stands for? Well, the answer is pretty simple, she doesn’t stand for anything except her own ambition.

That’s not much of a qualification for President of the United States. That’s not someone I would consider voting for. Frankly, I don’t think Haley will ever be a presidential nominee, although none of the Republican alternatives look any better.

I like Joe Biden, but he won’t be around forever. In the larger picture, the Democrats aren’t perfect, but right now they’re the only game in town. I think Biden will run again, and Trump won’t, but if the next election were to pit Kamala Harris against Nikki Haley, Harris should win hands-down. She, at least, stands for something bigger than merely wanting to be saluted by the Marine guards at the helicopter pad.

It sure looks like Trump is running. While he should be doing some fence mending, that is not Trump. Probably some is going on in the background, and financial support speaks loudly. If the primaries were today Trump would get the nomination, If the election were today Trump could win.

That sounds like wishful thinking on your part.
