“Even with coronavirus spiking and new restrictions taking effect, Congress remains stalled on fresh relief for Americans in need,” CNN reported on Monday, November 30, 2020, because “lawmakers have been unable to come to any agreement.” Read story here.
Also, covid relief now has to compete for Congress’ attention with a looming deadline to avoid a government shutdown on Dec. 11, and the latter certainly will take precedence, “though it’s possible that some relief programs could be added” to a spending bill. Those might include “expanded unemployment benefits, an eviction moratorium and a pause on student loan payments.” But another round of $1,200 “stimulus payments” appears off the table for now.
