“A Pennsylvania mail carrier has recanted claims made in a sworn affidavit that supervisors tampered with mail-in ballots,” the Washington Times, a GOP-friendly rightwing newspaper, reported on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.
Richard Hopkins, of Erie, Pennsylvania (photo, right), had claimed he “was ordered to collect late mail-in ballots and overheard a supervisor talking about backdating them,” the WT said. Needless to say, that triggered an investigation by postal inspectors, and … “He recanted on Monday.”
The U.K.-based Daily Mail, a right-leaning tabloid, reported that “Hopkins had signed an affidavit with allegations of ballot tampering and fraud and told his story to Project Veritas, a conservative group specializing in undercover stings of media organizations and left-leaning groups to show alleged bias.” (Editor’s note: What Daily Mail doesn’t mention is that Project Veritas uses paid liars to set up news organizations; see, e.g., this Washington Post story here.)
“Hopkins claimed that the ballots in question had arrived after Election Day, which was the Pennsylvania deadline for post-marking the envelopes,” Daily Mail continues, but “changed his story, however, once investigators were involved.” Yup, probably because they put him under oath, and people go to prison for lying under oath.
So what was his motive? This:
“GoFundMe has reportedly taken action against a fundraiser for USPS mail carrier Richard Hopkins who alleged election fraud on the part of his supervisors. The page was started by Hopkins himself after he publicly came forward with the allegations. On the page, Hopkins points out that he is ‘willing to testify under oath that 2020 Presidential Election ballots are being backdated to November 3rd by my supervisors.’ He suggests that he might lose his job because of his actions, directly or indirectly, and the raised funds would help him until he finds a new one. ‘The Post Office has already been threatening my employment. I am scared for myself, my family, and those closest to me,’ he wrote. The GoFundMe for Hopkins has, so far, raised $128,478.”
Don’t take my word for it; see for yourself here. By the way, scamming stranger through GoFundMe probably will get him prison time. It did for this guy.
This guy was the Trump camp’s very best voting fraud witness in the whole wide world, to wit:
“The whistleblower’s claims had been cited in a Trump campaign lawsuit and was brandished as a key piece of evidence by Trump loyalist Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.”

WITNESS: I have no idea. Some, I suppose.
