SAM Gets More Free Stuff to Put in its Sculpture Garden!

NO JOKE! New York apparently got tired of looking at listening to this thing.

Some rich person bought this thing by a popular Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa.  Plensa created the forty-four feet tall monolithic sculpture, ” Echo” for Madison Square Park, NY.  He claims it  depicts a nine-year old girl from Plensa’s Barcelona neighborhood, lost in a state of thoughts and dreams. Plensa’s sculpture also refers to an episode in Greek mythology in which the loquacious nymph Echo is forced as punishment to repeat only the thoughts of others. – See more at: http://www.madisonsquarepark.org/things-to-do/calendar/jaume-plensa-in-madison-square-park#sthash.2Pe4eUEM.dpuf

Reminds me of the new waterfront.

SAM got it free? Well, stuff usually is worth approximately what you pay for it. When the weather warms up the lunchtime crowds can use it as a Frisbee target.

“Free” minus a huge tax break for the donor as estimated by SAM! Oh yeh, wanna bet who is paying for sending this thing here, maintaining it?

If one criticizes this sort of thing one gets demined as without taste! Somehow I have trubbles … imagine this a hundred years from now, Wanna bet anyone will applaud the collection .. the pissing man, the nymph’s face, Calder’s failed eagle, the dumpy dusty cars hung from the ceiling. and the ever boring mechanical man!
