Former US Treasury official in the Bush II era, Neel Kashkari, is attme0ting to run as a Republican candidate in California.  Kaskari, an Indian-American. was the architect of the bank bailout during the 2008 financial crisis.  Last year, he quit his job as an investment banking executive and began travelling across the state launching the camping.

His platform sounds more like Mr. Obama than it does like Ted Cruz or Hannity. “Today, the gift of a good education and the opportunity it creates are out of reach for millions of struggling Californians,” Kaskarisaid in a keynote speech Tuesday at the 2014 Sacramento Business Review at California State University, Sacramento.

“That’s why I’m running for governor: To create jobs and give kids a quality education. Jobs and education. That’s it. That’s my platform,” said Kashkari, 40, a Republican, according to his website.

Kashkari’s Republican competitor is California assembly member, Tim Donnelly, a tea party favourite and staunch social conservative.
