BREAKING NEWS: Four Folks Running for the First and one Troll

Dennis Kucinich will speak this Thursday  at the annual convention of the Washington State Labor Council.  Kucinich is looking at running here because he is likely to lose his seat as the Buckeye State downsizes by two congressional districts.
Kucinich seems to have lkittle regard for our local talent.  There are at least three promising, young Dems already in the racefor the seat being left by  Jay Inslee, who is running for governor.

State Rep. Marko Liias, 30, is a Snohomish County native.  He was born in Edmonds, served on the Mukilteo City Council, and is serving his third term in the Legislature from the 21st District in south Snohomish County.

State Rep. Roger Goodman, an outspoken progressive, and the more centerist former State Rep. Laura Ruderman are already in the field and at the six-figure mark in their fund-raising.

There is a also a rumor that Darcy Burner may return and run in the first.  Her candidacy makes sense.  Darcy is a Harvard educated economist who held a middle level management position at Microsoft. Her candidacy would jibe quite well with Maria Cantwell’s Senatorial re-election campaign.   In Washington,  the state redistricting commission must complete its work of carving out a new 10th Congressional District in the Evergreen State.  One likely locale, embracing suburbs east of Lake Washington, means a reconfigured 1st District.

That District … comprised of  technocrats, middle class workers concerned for their jobs, would be a terrible soil to plant a show boat like Kucinich in.  Worse by diverting resources from a more tech savvy liberal, Kucinich could hand the first to a Reprican.
