Old Harvard Rubes Can Not Figure Out the Intertubes

Just got this email from the Harvard Alumnae Assn.  They want  “$100 to support the extra production and mailing costs of this weighty, hardcover tome” .. ie.e the 50th anniverart report for my graduating class (’63).

How quaint!

I would donate $100 to a shcolarship fund if Harvard would guarantee NOT to waste money this way !

email follows:

Dear Members of H-R ’59, ’60, ’62, and ’63:

We are reminding you, our friends, that, until January 27, you have the opportunity to sign up to receive the Fiftieth Anniversary Report of the Harvard and Radcliffe Classes of 1961.

We hope you will participate with us in this endeavor to reinforce and renew existing acquaintances and to foster new relationships between our Classes. You will learn of the triumphs and tribulations of our classmates just as you do those of your own classmates via your own quinquennial books.

If you are interested, go to the secure website below by Friday, January 27 (one week from tomorrow, so please don’t delay). Log in with your Alumni.Harvard (formerly Post.Harvard) user ID and password, and place your order for the Classes of 1961 Fiftieth Anniversary Report!

https://post.harvard.edu/olc/pub/HAA/events/event_order.cgi?tmpl=events&event=2308939

(If you do not yet have an Alumni.Harvard user ID and password, you can quickly and easily set them up by registering for a free account at http colon //alumni.harvard.edu. As a security precaution, you will be asked for your ten-digit Harvard Alumni Association ID number, which is 0000000000.)

Because our Fiftieth Report must keep its bottom line in the black, we require a contribution of $100 to support the extra production and mailing costs of this weighty, hardcover tome, which will include the personal reflections of some 800 classmates, the photos of nearly 600, biographical and/or contact information for more than 1,000, Lifestyle Survey results, and assorted miscellany!

We thank you in advance for your interest and support. Look for your copy of the book to arrive in your mailbox sometime in April.

Very best wishes,

Greg Downes and Ruth Wardle Scott
Class of 1961 Class Report Co-Chairs
