What would happen if Apple stopped creating new products?

There is a lot of fantasy going on about ways of cutting costs at public universities while somehow compensating with scholarships or creating private endowments for public  schools.

AINT gonna happen!

Here in Washington state, the state part of the cost of higher ed is already down to 30% … far less than the 50% cut just now coming in California.  It is unimaginable that the State is going to to come up with more funds for scholarships or other aid for our students while we have already made much deeper cuts than those in California.

Ask yourself, what would happen if Apple stopped creating new products?

Unlike Apple or China, Washington State is not  not a corporation.  We do not have a corporate leadership who can plan strategically for the long term.  China paid a price for a period like this, it was called the “cultural revolution.”  Their totalitarian government is now run more like a global corporation .. ta adults are in charge

Apple, of course has a similar challenge.  Apple is not a democracy, if Jobs is dieing,  there corporate structure will determine who the new leader or leader is.    As Apple knows from its history, corporate systems can fail because of bad leaders.

The same is true of democracies. Democracy needs leaders who can look beyond short term problems.
