What Carson did with his big chance to be a hero

A few days ago, GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson argued the solution to carnage like last week’s mass shooting at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College is not stricter gun control laws, but heroic citizens charging the gunman. Or, as Raw Story puts it, “Carson has been bragging all week that he would charge head-on at gunmen, if he ever encountered one.” Today, Carson described being present during a robbery at a chicken fast-food outlet in Baltimore years ago. “Guy comes in, put the gun in my ribs,” Carson said. So what did he do? “He directed the gunman’s attention to an employee of the fast food restaurant. ‘I just said, I believe that you want the guy behind the counter,’ Carson said,” according to Raw Story.
