Goldy’s golden girl has gone from sizzle to fizzle.

sawantMy interest in Kshama Sawant has evolved in a series of posts on TA.  At first, I was hopeful, based on my respect for David Goldstein , that this lady was more than a loud mouth  demagogue.  I thought she might be a really good thing … an intellectual, a trained economist, a socialist  using the system to get things done. I was wrong. Since getting elected on the backs of her $15 campaign Sawant has: 1. almost effd her own $15 by not cooperating with the rest of the council. 2.  anointed  herself as too moral to attend a meeting with the business community (while demeaning everyone else on the council for doing so). 3. done nada to familiarize herself with the people in her new District. 4. created a façade by running her naïf protégé, Jess Spear against Frank Chopp. 5. been absent on issues like pre K. 6. gone out of her way to insult outer members of the council .. apparently because a socialist can not join a c-o-a-l-i- t-i-o-n.  . 7. So  impressed with herself, Kshama  has commissioned an autobiography!  A bit early? So.. what next? Kshama is going to lose the city council election for her seat in the newly formed 3rd district. She got elected in a city wide campaign growing out of the $15 minimum wage campaign.  Her election was supported by students and poor people … few of whom can afford to live in her new district, the 3rd. Now there are a number of impressive people running for position 3 on the Council.  Unlike Kashama, these folks represent groups of folks who actually live in the 3rd … gays, black establishment, techie, new rich.  Not a lot of unemployed folks or Seattle CC kids live in the 3rd.. I suspect that this cast means a split electorate.  IF Sawant does well she will then lose in the run off to whoever has built a c-o-a-l-i- t-i-o-n.
