And that’s a problem when impeachment doesn’t work because senators hew to party loyalty instead of guilt or innocence. With impeachment gone as a remedy for serious abuses of power, holding presidents accountable for committing crimes in office was the last guardrail, and the Supreme Court removed it. That leaves Americans wide open to tyranny.
