Gov. Ron DeSantis is escalating his war on Pride by imposing more political color correctness on Florida. As part of his relentless campaign to turn gay people into non-persons, he banned rainbows from schools (see my posting here). Now they’re banned from bridges, too. NBC News reports (here),
“As part of DeSantis’ ‘Freedom Summer’ initiative, the state’s transportation secretary, Jared W. Perdue, announced … that bridges in the state will have no choice but to be illuminated in red, white and blue from Memorial Day through Labor Day. ‘Thanks to the leadership of @GovRonDeSantis, Florida continues to be the freest state in the nation,’ Perdue wrote on X.”
Funny, but Gov. Big Brother dictating the color of bridge lighting doesn’t strike me as freedom. That’s like North Korea (photo below), where conformity isn’t a choice, but government policy.
