If you’re a college student, and you vote, Cleta Mitchell likens you to a pestilence, to wit:
“Scourge: noun: … a cause of wide or great affliction”
Mitchell, a prominent Republican lawyer neck-deep in Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election (details here), is offended by the fact many young people vote.
In a presentation to GOP donors on April 15, 2023, she called for “curbing voter access on college campuses and promoted other ways to suppress votes,” including eliminating early voting and same-day registration, MSNBC reported on Saturday, April 22, 2023 (read story here).
“Mitchell’s remarks ought to be played for students and other young people across the country,” MSNBC said. “It shows how fearful Republicans are of a political movement led by youths.”
