Campaign official asks schools to provide student volunteers

A deputy campaign manager for Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot fired off a mass email to Chicago public school teachers asking them to rustle up student volunteers to work for the mayor’s re-election campaign, even suggesting the kids be given extra credit for volunteering (read story here).

This probably landed with a thud, because Lightfoot is unpopular with the Chicago Teachers Union, which has endorsed her opponent. And I can’t speak for how they do things in Chicago, but just about anywhere else this would get a politician investigated for using public resources for political campaigning.

But, you know, Chicago is Chicago, and some stupid people come from there …
