Where China stands on Ukraine’s NATO bid

On Sunday, in the state-owned Global Times, Beijing warned the U.S. that allowing Ukraine to join NATO — which the Biden administration doesn’t support — would inevitably escalate the conflict and increase the danger of nuclear war.

The Global Times editorial, which is seen as speaking for the Chinese government, “called for the Western alliance to withdraw from its longstanding involvement in Eastern Europe.” Which is exactly what Putin wants.

Yeah, right, the carnage in Ukraine — the bombings of hospitals and schools, kidnapping and raping of children, torture and murder of civilians — is all America’s fault. If that’s what the Chinese are saying, they’re not people we can talk to, much less do business with.

Despite some recent suggestions to the contrary, it looks like the Russia-China alliance is still in good shape.
