No state is more gun-crazy, or less restrictive on guns, than Texas. In the wake of the Uvalde school massacre, Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, ignored calls by victims’ families for gun reforms (see story here).
Now there’s another Texas gun carnage to talk about. A Houston man who’d lived in an apartment since 2013 without paying rent was evicted. On Sunday, August 28, 2022, at 1 a.m., he set fire to the building (photo below), then blasted the other tenants with a shotgun as they came out. Three were killed and two wounded. He shot at firemen, too, until the police killed him. Read story here.
Republicans argue the solution to crazy people with easy access to guns is more guns. That’s crazy. It makes far more sense to make it harder for crazy people to get guns. But Republicans will never agree to that. All you can do is try to vote them out of office.
