Republicans’ silly lies

Today’s lies:

Lie #1: IRS agents armed with loaded AR-15s will show up on Americans’ doorsteps to audit their taxes — Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-NE).

Lie #2: An army of 87,000 IRS agents is coming for taxpayers making less than $75,000 a year — Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Republicans tell outrageous lies, stupid lies, and — as this shows — lies so silly you wonder who they think they’re fooling.

At the time of Watergate, conservative columnist George Will, who’s still alive and writing today, posited his theory of Nixon’s Little Lies. As he explained, Hitler’s theory of the big lie (as described in Mein Kampf) was “a lie so colossal that no one would believe that someone ‘could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.'” (Quoted from Wikipedia here.)

By contrast, Will wrote, Nixon’s Little Lies were “lies so petty and demeaning you wonder why he stooped to it.”

So, are Grassley and McCarthy telling Hitler lies, or Nixon lies?
