How violent are Trump supporters?

On Jan. 6, 2021, they erected a gallows outside the U.S. Capitol building and chanted “hang Mike Pence!”, went hunting for Nancy Pelosi with zipties, used flagpoles as spears and threw fire extinguishers at police officers, and stashed guns in a motel room to arm a “quick reaction force.”

Shaye Moss is a Georgia election worker who’s been falsely vilified in conservative circles. She received a frantic phone call from her beloved grandmother, who said men were forcing their way into her home to find Moss and make a “citizen’s arrest.” (See story here.) Her name is also on an Oathkeepers “death list” found in an FBI raid at the home of a sympathizer (see story here).

Yesterday, the FBI arrested a Massachusetts man for threatening to kill Arizona’s secretary of state with a bomb (see story here), just one of a Niagara of threats made against election workers across the country.

These aren’t just the frustrated actions of partisan activists disappointed by an election outcome; they’re serious crimes, and you don’t hear Republicans condemning this behavior. Instead, they talk about “civil war.”

That’s not a party I can vote for under any circumstances.
