“Juneteenth” is a new federal holiday commemorating the issuance of General Order No. 3 on June 19, 1865, enforcing emancipation in Texas.
Making this day a federal holiday passed the Senate unanimously, but 14 House members, all of them Republicans, voted against it.
They are: Reps. Mo Brooks and Mike Rogers (R-AL), Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Doug LaMalfa and Tom McClintock (R-CA), Andrew Clyde (R-GA), Thomas Massie (R-KY), Matt Rosendale (R-MT), Ralph Norman (R-SC), Scott DesJarlais (R-TN), Ronny Jackson and Chip Roy (R-TX), and Tom Tiffany (R-WI).
